The Local History

Warner Robins began as a hamlet called Wellston with a population of 52. In 1940, Wellston was chosen as the site for an Army Air Corps Depot named in honor of Brig. Gen. Augustine Warner Robins of Virginia, considered the father of logistics of the Air Force. In 1943, Warner Robins was incorporated. The Korean War triggered a construction boom as more people arrived, and the city grew and thrived.
