Getting Around the City 

The Port Authority of Allegheny County is the public transit system for Pittsburgh. About 230,000 riders use this system on a daily basis. There are 102 operational routes: 98 bus, 3 light rails, and 2 inclines. A Passenger Rail operated by Amtrak has two routes that provide inter-city services. The Port Authority at select stations offers a Free Fare T Zone.  

I-76 has a southeastern trajectory that runs through the Pittsburgh Metro Area. The Pennsylvania Turnpike is a primary route from the Mid-Atlantic to the Midwest. It also serves as an alternate route during traffic hours on I-76. Airports near the city include the Pittsburgh International Airport (12.94 mi.), the Arnold Palmer Regional Airport (33.13 mi.), and the DuBois Regional Airport (76.74 mi.).

The Local Sports Scene  

Pittsburgh is home to three professional sports teams: the Steelers (NFL), the Penguins (NHL), and the Pirates (MLB). The Pittsburgh Steelers were founded in 1933 and won their first Super Bowl in 1974. This team has eighteen members that have been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Steelers have won six Super Bowls to date.  

College sports are also very competitive in this city.  The University of Pittsburgh’s football team has appeared in the Orange Bowl, the Sugar Bowl, and in the Rose Bowl throughout its history. The University of Pittsburgh, Duquesne University and Robert Morris University all have teams that compete in the NCAA Division I basketball.
