Local History

Dearborn was named after American patriot Henry Dearborn in 1836, a Revolutionary War general who had served as the U.S. Secretary of War under Thomas Jefferson. Students and parents can also find multiple private and charter schools in Dearborn such as Divine Child High School and Henry Ford Academy.

Much like many other Michigan cities, Dearborn residents can expect a good amount of snow each winter—in fact, the city typically sees up to 34 inches. The summer high usually occurs in July around 84ºF, and most locals insist that the area’s most pleasant months of the year are August, June, and September with the least pleasant being January and February.
