Salisbury is generally known to be more pleasant weather-wise than other places in Maryland with the best months in the area being May, June, and September.

Nabb Center for Delmarva History and Culture, the Chipman Cultural Center, and the Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art. One of Salisbury’s premier local festivals is the National Folk Festival, a yearly national event that has been held in the city since 2018 and features a variety of folk artists. The city also hosts the SBY Marathon, a yearly marathon, half-marathon, and 5K that can qualify runners for the New York City and Boston Marathons. 

Transportation and Infrastructure

The majority of Salisbury can be reached by U.S. Route 13 and U.S. Route 50, two of the area’s primary highways. The city can be visited from all over using the Wicomico Regional Airport by air or even the Port of Salisbury by recreational boat. Residents can access public transportation using Shore Transit, a local bus service providing daily routes throughout the city.

The 2010 census found Salisbury to be home to 30,343 residents living within the city’s 13,401 housing units. The median age in Salisbury is around 28 years old and the largest age grouping in the city is between 25 and 44 years old, making up around 25% of the population. 

Sports in Salisbury

The Eastern Shore Baseball League has its headquarters in Salisbury. Today, the city is represented by the Delmarva Shorebirds in the South Atlantic League, and the local Arthur W. Perdue Stadium houses the Eastern Shore Baseball Hall of Fame. The city also boasts successful Division 3 football, field hockey, lacrosse, baseball, and rugby.
