Weather and Climate 

Montgomery has a humid subtropical climate. July is the hottest month of the year, and temperatures average 91ºF. It rarely ever snows in this area. Hailstorms are common during the spring and summer, and thunderstorms occur year-round. There is a high risk for both tornados and hurricanes.  

Local History 

In 1846, Montgomery became the state capital of Alabama. It played a prominent role during the Civil War and became the capital of the Confederacy. Later, this area was a primary site in the Civil Rights movement, where infamous incidents such as the Montgomery bus boycott and Bloody Sunday occurred. Since then, the city has flourished and continues to become more diversified.  

Their first skyscraper, the RSA tower, was built in 1996. In 2005, Hyundai Motor Manufacturing opened its first US manufacturing plant in Montgomery, AL. The redevelopment of the riverfront began in 2007, and the renaissance of the historic downtown attracts many visitors.
